Hello coffee lovers! We bring you the best of news… the winter season is over! But alas it seems we must continue to curl up inside with a cup of coffee like the rest of the winter. We hope that you and your families are all doing well in these challenging times, we have to sit tight and take care of each other and we will make it through for sure.
ColdHotDrinks will continue to serve your coffee needs. Small businesses are hit hardest so be sure to support our small roasteries by trying out their awesome coffee. Speaking of which; we bring you good news of new coffees, new features and, you guessed it, a new coffee recipe of the month.
Our roasters and new additions
We are always looking for the best specialty coffee Switzerland has to offer. Initially, Kaffeepur joined us, a roaster with over 30 different coffees from all over the world. If you’re looking for coffee from a specific country, you will most likely find one amongst Kaffeepur’s selection.
Next was Drip Roasters, a small roastery from Bern. They specialize in light roasts for filter brews but also offer darker roasts for espresso. Sustainability and fair practices are some of their guiding standards.
Shortly after we were joined by Sweet Bean Coffee, a roastery from the region of Geneva. A coffee professional her entire life, Shirin has started this roastery to bring to Switzerland the best of the best in coffee.
We launched with these three roasters but are constantly scouting for more specialty roasters to collaborate with! Do you have a recommendation? Please leave a comment below and let us know.
Recently we came into contact with a micro-roastery in Lucerne with a small but carefully selected range of coffees. We are proud to present to you the next roastery to join our ranks: hässig&hässig!
The roasters at h&h take great care during the entire roasting process to keep all variables at an optimal level and judge this all by eye. Their roasts range from light for filter coffees to dark for their espresso selections.
And last but not least we are soon to be joined by Maillardos, a coffee roasting company located in Rheineck. They have a small collection of wide ranging coffees from seven different countries on offer with which they will soon grace our website. Exciting!
Find their coffees using the roaster filter on the coffee browsing page or take the coffee quiz again, you might get matched with one of their coffees.
We are now on Medium! We will be writing articles there on all kinds of topics like coffee in general, design, ux etc. so stay tuned for those and read our first article at: medium.com/@coldhotdrinks.
The wait is almost over! For all our users on the west side, we will soon release the French language option for the site. J’ai hâte!
Coffee Recipe of the Month
This month’s recipe is definitely for those with a sweet tooth. This is a really quick recipe for coffee infused with caramel and brown sugar.
What you’ll need
- Freshly brewed coffee
- Caramel sauce
- Brown sugar
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Start brewing some coffee
- Meanwhile heat the milk, caramel, and sugar in a small saucepan
- Keep stirring until steaming but do not boil
- Combine the coffee with the warmed milk in mugs
- Top with whipped cream and drizzle caramel on top (optional)
- The ratio of caramel milk to coffee will dictate how sweet the drink is, so mix according to taste
- If you want the drink to stay warm for longer you can warm your mugs beforehand with hot water
Until Next Time!
That concludes this month’s CHD Newsletter. May this season be kind and nourishing to you, keep drinking coffee, keep growing and stay healthy, people!
