Fair & Direct Trade
This month is fair trade month and we just so happen to announce on this newsletter that we have updated our site with icons that indicate all the fair trade and direct trade products that we offer in our shop. For specialty coffee to continue to thrive and new lots to be developed and grown, all of us coffee connoisseurs must band together to support specialty coffee producers. And the best way to do that is by voting with our purchases and buying fair trade products or even better, direct trade products. We at ColdHotDrinks are proud to work with roasteries that embody this principle. We hope to collaborate with many more roasteries of the like in the future.
Coffee Recipe of the Month
Now back to more pressing concerns: how do we enjoy coffee in the spookiest way this Halloween? Well, we’ve got a treat for you! Or a trick! It’s the trick-or-treat latte.
This latte was not meant for the faint of heart. It is a gamble with fate. We will show you how to concoct a latte so twisted that it could ruin friendships. Behold! The Trick-or-Treat Latte! This latte works by having two layers of syrup on the bottom. One of caramel syrup and one of pumpkin spice syrup. Serve it with a straw and delight at the confusion in your friends’ faces. You can even add an extra layer of liquorice syrup if you have an icy cavern where your heart should be! MWAHAHAHAHA! Here’s how to make it.
What you’ll need
- 4 parts brewed coffee
- 2 part steamed milk
- 1 part caramel syrup
- 1 part pumpkin spice syrup
- 1 part liqourice syrup (optional)
- cinnamon & nutmeg for garnish
- First pour the layers of syrups in a tall glass by laying them down gently using a spoon so they don’t mix
- For optimal trick or treating switch up the order in which you pour the layers of syrup for each drink
- Now pour the coffee as gently as you can so as to not disturb the layers of syrup at the bottom of the glass
- Add the steamed milk on top
- Using the syrups you can draw something on top of the milk foam, let your creativity run wild
- Sprinkle cinnamon & nutmeg to taste
- Serve with a straw
Until Next Time!
