Premium Pure Arabica, Kenya, washed. The Mount Kenya!
How should I describe this coffee? Beautifully fruity, very balanced, wild, powerful?
I think with a little anecdote I’ll describe this unique, complex coffee: During a trip to Africa, I had a coffee break on the roadside. However, the bar consisted of a few lumbering boards held together by even fewer rusty nails. So in response to my skeptical question as to whether coffee was available here, the landlord affirmed it proudly and immediately started preparing it. He lit a small fire next to the bar to boil water in a cheap old aluminum pan. During the meal, he prepared the filter; With African toilet paper of inferior quality, which is why he took several layers, which he put in a washed-out canister with some holes in the bottom.
Fascinated, I watched his performance! Using a mortar, he crushed the coffee beans and filled the tin can. After a good while (about 1 hour), he poured the coffee with the utmost caution and concentration, serving me a friendly cup of black coffee and smiling proudly. And behold! No adverse circumstance could manage to bring this excellent coffee to its knees. It tasted delicious! I called it the Mount Kenya.
